Christine Haynes Lottie Dress – the muslin and first dress

I’m so glad I tried one last muslin on this @christinehaynes #lottiedress because I love this final result in ‘real’ fabric. I did three and a half muslins!
My issue was to get the dress to fit around my bum. In the end, I added a centre-back seam and curved it out over my posterior and then straight down. I used the Muna and Broad Alistra Dress as a guide to where to add the curves – that is a knit dress so I added more, but it was really helpful to know where to start curving out.
The result is a simple dress but I think it has a lovely shape and I will make it again.
I did a forward shoulder adjustment of 1/2 an inch and lowered the bust dart by 1/2 an inch. I shortened the long sleeves by 4 inches.
I used bias binding on the neckline instead of a facing; and I also bias bound the hems on the sleeves and the skirt. I have done a blog about using this attachment. Link in bio.
The fabric is a light to medium weight cotton. I used the green because I didn’t have enough to the navy left. And I’m really pleased with how that worked out.
